Mr. Spot's Chai House
Open Mic- Thursday January 10th, 2008
Mr. Spot's Chai House is a great funky little venue with an open mic on every Thursday night. It has a nice mix of spoken word and music. Each performance gets less time than other open mics but you get to see a lot more people that way. They serve coffee, chai, food, beer, and wine. Check em' out www.chaihouse.com
Allecia Clemons and the Sexy Numbers
Allecia Clemons www.alleciaclemons.com kicked it all off with her edgy and fun spirit. It didn't take long to know that we were in for a fun night at Mr. Spot's. You can also check her out on www.myspace.com/alleciaclemons
Also pictured here is the rest of her band "The Sexy Numbers". I think they made up that name for the night. They were really good and added so much to the night. They included www.JoelGamble.com on violin, Nathan Marble on upright bass, and Betsy Tinney on cello.
Stephen Smartt and Nathan Marble
Stephen has a huge heart, is a great soul, and I'm blessed to have met him. It all shows when he performs. He's really not out to promote himself or his music so it's rare treat to get to hear him play. He was backed up by Nathan on the bass, who by the way, I'm a little jealous of... he's been substitute teaching for music classes around Seattle. It just seems like that would be so much fun. So don't get me wrong.. jealous in a good way.
Chris Wakefield
I believe Chris was going to rock some piano for us but there is no longer a house piano so... he rocked the mic with some poetry instead. www.myspace.com/christopherwakefield
Alive With Skies
Alive With Skies www.myspace.com/alivewithskies bringing the message. Check out his page.
Luke Daniel
It was great to see Luke Daniel www.myspace.com/lukedaniel again. If you haven't seen or heard him for the first time yet, head to his site. He's got some sweet shows coming up. Like Nuemos on March 15th, 2008.
Judd + Rachel = Forget Me Nots
A sweet little duo worth a lot more than their weight in gold. If you don't do it right now... don't forget to check out the Forget Me Nots www.myspace.com/forgetmenotsband
Washboard Abs and Bums of Steal
Simon and Jacob make up "Washboard Abs and Bums of Steal". Freaking Hilarious. Totally Awesome. The best thing since banjo butter!
Alden Witt and Amelia
Bringing the Heart with song and poetry.
Gabriel Yoachum and Kaelon Holmes
Rockin' the Spoken Word with somethin' to say: www.myspace.com/gabrielyoa. Kaelan Holmes usually runs the second half of this open mic. Check it: www.myspace.com/kaelanholmes
Eliza and Denise
Eliza and Denise... With their forces combined... WOW!
Todd Davies and Tommy Dean
Todd Davies: www.myspace.com/toddavies
Tommy Dean: www.myspace.com/ramblindean
Kira and Chris May
Kira brought the comedy/poetry combo.
Chris May www.myspace.com/mayfluer followed with some spoken word of his own.
Jeff Kimes
Jeff Kimes was rockin' the Dij as you can see...
& Ampersand
& Ampersand are definitely cutting edge! Don't get me wrong, that's not just a nice thing to say when someone sucks. They will rock your socks off faster then Mr. Rodgers can change his sweaters. I'm serious! Check It: www.myspace.com/ampersandfolnk
Boot
"Boot" came and waited all night to play and I'm so glad that I waited to hear him. Here is a link to his band: www.myspace.com/str8faded
The Band aka... Those Guys
These guys... oh sorry... Those Guys came in at the end of the night, set up their gear, and rocked out on some Jimi Hendrix tunes. Simply put... groovy.
Followed by a good ol' end of the night jam session.
